This glacier, like the Fox Glacier, flows down the Western slopes of Mount Cook. Julius von Haast, a German geologist who came to New Zealand in 1858 was a scientist with a particular interest in the way that the plains and lakes of the South Island of New Zealand had been formed by the action of glaciers. He named this one after the Austro-Hungarian Emperor Franz Josef because he felt that the grandeur of the scenery demanded a royal name.

All needlepoint kits have the design stamped on the canvas in colour.
They come complete with STRAND unique mohair/wool yarn to finish the design and a needle. A chart is also included.
Design is printed on 18 count canvas.
